Ash Wednesday this year is 2nd March, the start of our preparation for Easter Day on 17th April as we look with honesty and compassion on our relationship with God, our neighbours and the world that God created and loves.
At this time, as we watch with so much sadness the continuing tragedy in Ukraine, Pope Francis has appealed to the worldwide Church to keep Ash Wednesday as a day of prayer and fasting for peace there. Our services of Eucharist, with imposition of ashes, will take place at
11.30am at St Salvador’s and
7pm at S David’s, Pilton.
As always on Ash Wednesday our prayers of penitence will include our sorrow for all the sufferings inflicted by war and human violence, as we turn our hearts towards the Christ who offers peace, reconciliation and healing of all God’s children.
